A long cardboard box of sparklers -  fourth of July.
Neighborhood children. Late sunsets, freedom to run, checking in with the adult with a wooden match - who lights the end.

The sulphur smell, fizzing sound, bright sparks - thumb and finger hold it away - sliced through the air to make shapes -your eyes play tricks - your hand moves, but the light hangs in the air!

8x8, oil on 1.5in cradled board,

wired, ready to hang
